Chaos

Laying in bed, drowsily awakening, reality dripping into conscious awareness, I considered my current state of affairs and realized that, when given a choice, I will choose to be excitingly uncomfortable over being comfortably content.

The realization scared me more than anything else.

Shortly afterwards, the first post that appeared in my Instagram feed was a quote by Tilda Swinton:

I am a great friend of chaos. It’s all we have. I mean, this whole concept of being able to manage life…life is risk, life is chance, life is being open to chance. The best things in my life, and probably in anybody’s life, come out of being open to being blown off course.

That’s good, but, as it has been pointed out to me, needs to be balanced with managing its effect on others.

Being aware of it is a good place to start.
